In previous newsletters we've discussed business identity, promotional communication and digital cameras, and how all of these can work together and assist in marketing your product or service. You can view past newsletters at my web site by clicking here http://www.elitebeefcattle.com/Fisher_Communications.htm. Dynamic Marketing's concept is to compel you to expand your views and ideas, take action aimed at increasing sales or market share and to establish a professional identity. Are you thinking of taking action and joining the millions of Internet marketers? Today's message focuses on the beginning basic steps.

Preparing to Build a Web Site

  • Research, research, research! Surf the web, see what's out there and visit sites that relate to your industry or business. This will give you ideas and an indicator of what's happening in your industry on the world wide web and how your competitors are using the Internet as a marketing tool.
  • Compare price. Remember when comparing price to compare apples to apples. A professionally custom designed site will cost more than "cookie cutter" layouts or one-page designs. Remember that old adage... you get what you pay for. If you go to a professional they will likely present several options and inform you about domain names, hosting costs, design, email boxes, etc.
  • Compile your information. Prioritize your info and prepare any photographs. Photos are extremely important, however, a bad photo will do more harm than no photo.
  • Don't forget to question the designer/administrator on how your site is submitted to search engines, web directories, web rings and link exchanges.
  • Be prepared to devote time to this project. Getting your web site up and running is time consuming, however be prepared. Compiling information and photos to continue updating your site takes a bit of effort. Remember, people won't keep re-visiting your site if you don't have fresh, new material for them to view. I stress with all my web clients that updating the material on their site is crucial to the success of Internet marketing.
  • Finally, I always stress the importance of first appearances, and this web site is a reflection of your image to the world. (This really is the beginning of another newsletter message ). Briefly, make sure the colors harmonize, the text type isn't too small to read and most important, the first page loads fast - extremely important issues in preparation.

The thought of a new web site can be daunting, there are all kinds of professionals available to help you through the complete process. Talk to them, discuss cost, discuss maintaining the site once it's up and running, view their existing work and speak with their clients. Learn what to expect so there are no surprises in the process.

I hope you find these tips thought provoking.

Until next time,
Laurie
